Get Outdoors

Take a few minutes outside to breathe in some fresh air, maybe feel the sun or breeze on your face. Hear the sound of the wind, or the birds. Take a moment to pause, to center, to balance before you continue on your way. God is with us always, and more apparent when we take these quick moments to recenter and redirect ourselves heavenward.

Bible Reading

Genesis 5:2
“Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them “Humankind” when they were created.”

Sometimes I think we get down on ourselves, especially when we compare ourselves to Jesus. As we approach Easter, I encourage you to pause and accept the blessing of our ancestors that is also our blessing.

Penance – abstinence

Choose something that you find you use as a crutch and take today, just today to obstain from this. For me I tend to eat when I am stressed out, or curl up on the coach in front of the television when I need time to myself. For one day, do something different. In place of television, meditate, or go for a walk to clear your head. Or instead of pounding the oreas, eat a mindful healthy snack. The point of this exercise is not to change one’s habits, but simiply to become aware of what your habits are. So we have time for the divine spirit to work in our lives and we not take our temple, aka ourselves, for granted.

A Native American Prayer

Written by a Pueblo Indian

“Hold On”

I will hond on to what is good

And I will hold on to what I believe

Even when it is a tree which stands by itself.

And I will hold on to what I must do,

even if it is a long way from here.

I will hold on to life, even when it is easier to let go.

Please hold on to my hand, even when I have gone away from you.”
